Weight Loss

Approximately 70% of American adults struggle with obesity or are overweight. Having a higher weight brings secondary problems which include diabetes, high cholesterol, heart disease, increased risk for strokes and psychological problems.

If you have found yourself trying different dietary plans and working out without success, semaglutide may be another option to help you obtain your goals.

Semaglutide injections for weight loss program

Semaglutide

Semaglutide (Ozempic, Wegovy) is an injectable medication that is used to treat those struggling with weight management. It is FDA-approved for weight loss in adults with obesity with a BMI of 27 or greater.

Semaglutide works by mimicking a hormone called GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) which targets areas of the brain that regulate appetite and food intake. These medications in turn will decrease hunger and increase fullness after eating. The delay in gastric emptying can reduce appetite, improve control of eating, and reduce food cravings.

It is recommended to be used with both diet and exercise for optimal results.

What to expect

Process

During your initial visit a detailed medical history will be taken, physical exam will be performed and labs will be ordered if not received in past 3 months. We will discuss how semaglutide works, educate on how medication is given and discuss your nutritional and physical goals.

A follow-up visit is scheduled 4 weeks after your initial appointment. This visit includes weight check, vitals, and a questionnaire. If a patient does not check in for this 4-week follow-up, the medication will not be re-prescribed.
